Biking- Khardung La

Finally our dream plan of a bike trip to the worlds highest motorable road materialised on the 24th of June 2009 with 5 members leaving for Delhi by train & rest of them to follow in a couple of days time...
The Bike Journey starts from Delhi and routes thro' Chandigarh, Shimla, Manali. The Manali-Leh road considered one of the best roads to drive on is the next stretch. From leh our dream of conquering the distinction of riding on the World's highest motorable road begins.... Khardung La.
Then comes the numerous lakes (not the small ones like in bangalore!!!!!!!!!) some 100's of Kms wide... the scenic beauty all of us would have only seen in photographs...... Pangong Lake, Tso Moriri Lake to mention a few......
The next phase begins towards the most known place of Kashmir.... KARGIL...... and winds thro' some rough terrain of kashmir towards Srinagar.. The Dal lake, Mughal Gardens......Jammu, Wagah Border........
hmmmm..... think tats more than enough for a sneak preview on the journey carrying the message of "WORLD BROTHERHOOD"......

It was a wonderful and very eventful camp that we had at Hemagiri - Huliyurdurga, The camp concluded at 2.45 pm yesterday and all the children boarded the bus near the camp site. Thanks to Vatsa for his timely phone call, we could contact the Magadi Depot Manager (Mr.Anand Kumar ) and he was kind enough to divert a regular bus route plying from B'lore to Huliyurdurga and ensure that the entire bus would be full of our group members. On the return journey too, we had to just make a phone call and everhything was arranged w/o any problems, everyone was able to come bak to Bangalore. Thanks to Vatsa once again for this timely help!!There are some very important and interesting points in this camp :a. The attendance of senior members was indeed a huge plus point, Senior members in attendance were : Bros. : Gurusimha Murthy, KrishnaRaj, Govind /Jacky, Karthik, Sanketh, Charan -full time members, Sis. : Deepa - full time members,Others who attended the camp were : Bros. : Srivas, Praveen, Sagar; Sis.:Sushma, Bhavani,Akanksha ( on Friday night), Bros. : M.D.Ramanujam,Srikanth M.L.,M.D.Venkatesh / Deshu, Surya Sharma, Harish J (on Sat.) I am very happy to know that the Senior's participation was very mjuch encouraging and it shows that Chamundis can never be left to anything less. I request you to convey my congratulations to all the participants and thanks and gratitudes to all those helped either directly or indirectly. Only one thing which was missing was that the participation by parents which usually used to be in large numbers.

The road status is put up there whether open or closed.
This year it is alredy open (generally opens in mid june). so great oppurtunity to plan since much more time is available. A dream route to ride once in a lifetime.
